After a decade, it’s time to revisit the best and worst 90s fashion and beauty trends.
The Worst 90s Fashion Trends (And Some Great Ones Too!)
You thought they were cool, we thought they were too BUT after more than a decade, we can tell which 90s trends made it out alive. Our list of the worst 90’s trends are definitely styles you want to stir clear of. Reliving them is a fashion nightmare! It’s time to throwback to the worst 90s trends (with a little extra something at the end for you).
The Worst 90’s Trends
Are you ready for this? Let’s go, go, go!
1. One Liner Eyebrows, aka The Skinny Brow
With full, thick and perfectly arched eyebrows trending in the past years, we can’t even imagine trimming our eyebrows down to a mere single line. Back in the 90s, skinny eyebrows were cool and tweezing away as much as you wanted to wasn’t a crime against humanity. Today, no one would be caught wearing these thin eyebrows. Quelle horreur!
2. The Fountain Head
Sure, you saw Ariana Grande bring back this 90s trend, but not a lot of people are following suit. That’s because the fountain head should stay in the fountain instead of being allowed to roam the streets. Back then, you could go as high as you wanted to with your ponytail. Today, no one would dare go half the height.
3. The Tendrils
Oh yes, leaving out a few strands of hair in front of the face is considered a trend in 90s hairstyles. It’s purpose was to actually tone down a very polished look. But just look at how those horrible tendrils can ruin an entire look! Say it with me, ladies: NO to tendrils!
4. The Crunchy Curled Hair
For some weird reason, tight crunchy curls were the bomb in the 90’s. Hey, even Justin Timberlake loved the crunchy hairstyle. Nowadays, loose curls and sexy waves are preferred. But of course, we won’t see Justin sporting that look anytime soon. Unfortunately.
5. The Cornrows
For the life of us, we really can’t understand why cornrows were hot back in the 90’s. We’re just glad that this trend isn’t coming back, or at least, anytime soon.
6. The Thick Blue Eyeshadow
Blue eyeshadow was awesome in the 90’s which is why a lot of celebrities went overboard with it. The result? Blue eyeshadow all the way to the eyebrows–it breaks every makeup code today.
7. The Messy Accent Braids
We love boho and we love coachella, but we hate these messy accent braids. There are so many trendy braided hairstyle nowadays that these accent braids can’t even come close.
8. The Two Clips
Unless you’re a toddler or a child, please don’t use two barrettes on either side of your head. We’re sad to know that this was a 90’s trend, but we’re happy to say that nothing is permanent! Yes!
9. The Porcupine
The porcupine hairstyle was positively bitchin’ back then. You had the look of a rock star without really going all out! Now, come to think of it, you really don’t want to pop any balloons or perhaps kill tiny living creatures that land on your head, would you?
10. Mini Buns
We think those photos are pretty self explanatory. Let’s just keep the buns in the oven and not on top of our heads.
Ready to relive the best of the best 90s trends?!

C’mon! How cool were these things? Sure, they never worked or always said you were Relaxed when really you were having the worst day ever, but mood rings rocked! Thankfully, museum gift shops still sell them (Why? It’s best not to question a good thing.)
2. Bleached Hair

Bleached blonde was like the coolest thing since sliced bread in the 90s! I (not-so-secretly) wish I could pull off the bleached look because, c’mon, just look at it!
3. Neon Windbreakers

I totally remember sporting one of these in the 90s. In fact, it looked eerily similar to this one, so much so that I wondered, “Is that my windbreaker?” Windbreakers were awesome and will always have a place in our heart.
4. L.A. Lights

Okay, maybe in retrospect shoes that lit up for adults was a bit…juvenile, but don’t you secretly wish they were still socially acceptable? Imagine of all the possibilities when you have L.A. Lights…sigh…
5. Slip Dresses
